The gait of a horse is the sequence of hoof movements.
The Trottingbreds, like the Standardbreds, have races for two different gaits.
The trot & the pace.
A trotter moves the left-front & the A pacer moves both the left-front &
right-rear legs forward at the same time; left-rear legs forward at the same time;
then the right-front & left-rear move then the right-front & right-rear move
forward in unison. forward in unison.
The Standardbred horse is a major part of our breed. Almost all Trottingbreds are
more then 3/4 Standardbred. The most used Standardbred was Lothario. It would be hard to find a Trottingbred that doesn't trace back to him. Both trotters and pacers have benefitted from Lothario's contributions.
